Beautiful photos! I especially love the two grasses together. Could the last picture be of campanula latifolia 'Buckland'?
ReplyDelete'Claude Shride' Martagon ?
ReplyDeleteI think not. Not red enough.

Gorgeous Campanula!
ReplyDelete@Rob: you are quite correct! 'Claude Shride' is next along in the border. This is 'Slate's Select'.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: it could be 'Buckland'. Just wish I could recall where it came from.
Especially like the Acer species, where did that come from?
ReplyDeleteI've got that campanula - had it for about five years - can't remember from where - happy to report it seeds itself, yards and yards away from the parent plant - and it has the same gorgeous dark magenta-y eye.
ReplyDeleteLovely close-up shots. Have you notice that some plants looks beautiful in photos that in personal? That's kind of disturbing. Isn't it?
ReplyDelete@jwade: the Acer is from a collection made by Maurice Foster, who gave me the plant.
ReplyDelete@June: useful to know, thanks.
I love the cottage garden style that I try to reproduce on our village plot and in Bolton Percy churchyard
