They flowered well every year.

However, since we've taken the conifer out they now seem to be bulking up more quickly.Maurice Wilkinsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2417381781440063818.post-18358133412840364582014-09-03T16:06:12.988+01:002014-09-03T16:06:12.988+01:00It is also possibel that they are nearly evergreen...It is also possibel that they are nearly evergreen, they don't have a strict dormancy. I was under the impression that N. bowdenii produced new leaves shortly after the flowers, and that these leaves persist through the winter into spring, before dying off.Richard Courtneynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2417381781440063818.post-72023228888025052332012-05-28T16:05:54.104+01:002012-05-28T16:05:54.104+01:00Besides fertilizer I also use liquid seaweed extra...Besides fertilizer I also use liquid seaweed extract on my orchids. It seems that they look healthier now since I started using it.It is not a replacement of ferts, but just nice natural addition that orchids do appreciate.

orchid typesJohnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05004147549349182159noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2417381781440063818.post-85126413511671144362010-11-28T23:27:23.686+00:002010-11-28T23:27:23.686+00:00Nerine 'Pink Triumph' was knocked flat her...Nerine 'Pink Triumph' was knocked flat here by a frost of -4c on the Nov. 19th, our first hard frost. The leaves though are still pristine. It would be interesting to try 'Stephanie' & 'Zeal Giant' if they have a bit more frost resistance. In this province we are definitely pushing our luck with N. bowndeii but have great hopes for seedlings of what was called v. wellsii.

john in coastal Nova Scotia (presently +1c at 19:25)john in coastal Nova Scotianoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2417381781440063818.post-66438147501393021872010-11-02T18:09:34.210+00:002010-11-02T18:09:34.210+00:00Further on 'Pink Surprise' ~ the flowers a...Further on 'Pink Surprise' ~ the flowers are considerably less frost resistant than those of bowdenii 'Stefanie' planted right next to it ~ last week's frosts have turned its flowers to pulp, while 'Stefanie' is scarcely damaged. 'Zeal Giant' flowers have also proven considerably more frost-susceptible than those of Nerine bowdenii.Malcolm Allisonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2417381781440063818.post-62147228818383835492010-10-30T22:50:01.375+01:002010-10-30T22:50:01.375+01:00Many thanks for the added information. Many thanks for the added information.Brian in Brookehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14019207670917573187noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2417381781440063818.post-84368106498537928332010-10-29T18:20:29.127+01:002010-10-29T18:20:29.127+01:00I believe that 'White Magic' is being bulk...I believe that 'White Magic' is being bulked-up by a nursery for future release. As an alternative, I would recomment Nerine bowdenii 'Bianca Perla', a good strong growing white, no trace of pink & no virus.
